I would like to draw to your attention some key areas with regard to the EU Transition.
Freeports - there is a ten-week consultation on the development of Freeports in the UK. The government are inviting views of businesses to feed into the policy development process. You can respond and find more information here.
The New UK Global Tariff – there is a small window of opportunity for businesses to respond to the public consultation on the UK's first independent tariff policy. The New UK Global Tariff will replace the EU’s Common External Tariff on 1 January 2021. The consultation closes on 5th March 2020. You can respond here.
Extension to Training Grants - to 31st January 2021 - If you are involved with importing and exporting you could qualify for 100% government training grants. Find out more here.
EU FTA’s during the transition period – The EU and the UK have confirmed their positions to the WTO (World Trade Organisation). Nothing should change with regard to preference or originating content during the transition period. Please let us know if you experience any problems with border agencies and importing countries.
